Starting child care can be an exciting but emotional milestone for both you and your child. As you look ahead to 2025, it’s important to take steps that can ease this transition and set the foundation for a positive early learning experience. At My Cubby House Early Learning, we’re here to guide you through the process and offer a supportive environment tailored to your child’s growth and development. Here are some simple yet effective strategies to help your family prepare.
Begin talking to your child about child care well in advance. Use positive language to describe the fun activities they’ll enjoy, such as playtime, crafts, and making new friends. You can also read stories about going to preschool, which helps your child visualise the experience and become familiar with the idea.
Scheduling a tour at My Cubby House Early Learning before your child’s official start date can help ease any uncertainties they may have. Seeing our bright, welcoming spaces and meeting our friendly staff can make a big difference in helping them feel comfortable and excited about their new environment. During the tour, we encourage parents and children to explore our rooms, outdoor play areas, and sensory play zones. This experience fosters a sense of belonging and helps build anticipation for the learning adventures that await!
To get started, visit our Enrol Now page to book a tour and secure your child’s spot for 2025. We’re here to make this transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible for both you and your child.
Establishing a daily routine in advance is beneficial for your child. Getting them accustomed to specific mealtimes, nap schedules, and morning routines similar to those at My Cubby House Early Learning will make the transition smoother. Setting a consistent bedtime will ensure they’re well-rested and ready to start each new day at child care.
Supporting your child’s independence before they start child care can build confidence. Encourage simple tasks, like putting on shoes, washing hands, or tidying up toys, so they feel more capable and self-assured in the child care setting. Our Queensland-approved kindergarten program focuses on fostering independence, preparing children for the school years ahead while building self-confidence.
As part of our dedication to early learning, My Cubby House offers a Queensland-approved kindergarten program that includes a Free Kindy option for eligible families. This program ensures that children can access high-quality early education, designed to support their development in a nurturing and engaging environment. Our curriculum combines play-based learning with age-appropriate challenges to support all aspects of your child’s growth.
Our comprehensive curriculum elements at My Cubby House focus on language, literacy, numeracy, and emotional skills. By blending structured activities with free play, we encourage children to explore, think critically, and develop a love for learning. Each child is encouraged to grow at their own pace, with personalised guidance from our experienced educators.
Transitioning to child care can be an adjustment for parents too. At My Cubby House, we believe in maintaining open communication with families. Don’t hesitate to reach out to our educators with any concerns or questions. We are here to support your family and ensure you feel confident every step of the way.
Starting child care is a significant achievement! Celebrate your child’s small wins, whether it’s making a new friend or adapting to a new routine. Positive reinforcement can make the experience more enjoyable and help your child look forward to their days at My Cubby House.
We highly encourage families to engage in play dates at MCH to assist children and families in getting to know our educators and seeing what we do each day. During transition visits, parents are welcome to spend time in our play areas with their little ones and then go home together at the end of the play visit. This helps your child familiarise with the new environment and educators as children look to parents’ and adults’ reactions and feelings when engaging with people and new environments. It is a good idea to be positive and make it fun.
We invite families to spend 1-2 hours each day as much as possible before your official start date. We offer this free service to support young children’s emotional development and help them settle into our service. Families can engage in transition visits as much as they feel their little ones need.
